What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery?
Cosmetic surgery enhances specific features to improve one's appearance or to boost self-esteem. Reconstructive surgery improves function and restores appearance to abnormal features affected by birth defects, tumors, trauma, infection, disease or aging.

Reconstructive surgery is often covered by insurance, while Cosmetic surgery is not.

Introduction

As an oculoplastic and orbital surgeon, Dr. Willoughby provides a wide array of services.  He performs both cosmetic and medically necessary procedures related to the eyes and face.  He has been seeing patients in Denver since 2002 after spending two years working and training at the prestigious Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York City.  The office is located in the beautiful Cherry Creek North neighborhood in Denver, Colorado.

Cosmetic procedures include eye and face lifts, laser resurfacing and fat transfer.  They also include office-based procedures such as Botox, Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse injections.  An initial consultation is designed to answer questions and address concerns a patient has about cosmetic surgery.

A few examples of reconstructive procedures include medically necessary eyelid surgery, skin cancer of the face and treating trauma victims.  Most patients needing these types of procedures are referred to Dr. Willoughby by their Ophthalmologist, Optometrist or Dermatologist.  We accept Medicare and Medicaid and many insurance plans.
